Renault Flying in Race Trim

KubicaIf world championship points were awarded for the top-ten fastest laps of the race, rather than finishing positions, Robert Kubica would be fourth in the world championship. Prior to Monaco, he would have been just eighth. In the last three grand prix, Renault have set the second fastest lap of the race in Monaco and the fastest laps in both Turkey and Canada. Sutil Difference In Strategy

It was interesting to note that in today’s Q3 Qualifying session, nine out of the ten drivers opted to go for the Super Soft Bridgestone tyre and chase the best possible grid slot. The exception was Adrian Sutil. Force India had been muted in the build up to the weekend as one of the teams that could possibly upset the status quo at the front of the field. China: A Red Revolution?

One week later and we are in the familiar position of having Hamilton and Raikkonen together on the front row, facing a drag down to turn one. Surely Hamilton will favour caution this time around? However with Bet365 having slashed their prices and the track layout not as favourable, betting on Raikkonen to lead after the first lap is not attractive as it was in Japan. Continue reading…
