Red Bull Return In Qualifying

Saturdays in 2010 have been all about one team. Although Lewis Hamilton may have taken pole position last time out in Canada, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel still managed second and third on the grid, despite opting to qualify on the harder compound tyre. For me, that is hardly a crashing fall from the the form that has seen them dominate Q3 so far this season; taking all of the previous seven pole positions.

On The Button In Turkey

It has been a testing week. I entered it knowing exactly how I wanted to play things, by backing Massa to outpoint Alonso before the media previews drew attention to his record around the Turkish circuit. Unfortunately with so few firms pricing up the head-to-heads early and so little liquidity on Betfair, by Thursday I had decided to cancel my unmatched bets and sit things out until the race. Sutil Difference In Strategy

It was interesting to note that in today’s Q3 Qualifying session, nine out of the ten drivers opted to go for the Super Soft Bridgestone tyre and chase the best possible grid slot. The exception was Adrian Sutil. Force India had been muted in the build up to the weekend as one of the teams that could possibly upset the status quo at the front of the field. This decision to deviate from the norm simply makes that possibility more intriguing.

Ferrari Fastest Laps

Much has been written over the past week about the dominance of the Ferrari drivers at Istanbul since it was added to the Formula 1 race calendar in 2005. It is interesting to look at this success in terms of setting the fastest race laps.

Hungary, Hamilton and Hot Weather

With high temperatures predicted all weekend, I think we can get after Lewis Hamilton a little bit, despite him topping practice times yesterday afternoon.

Turkish Grand Prix Data Sheet

Unfortunately I don’t think that this data sheet will be as useful as it is some weekends, as Formula One cars have only raced at the Istanbul circuit three times previously. Some interesting 2008 season trends are starting to form though.
