Finger on the Button at Monza

with 2 comments

Kimi Raikkonen’s use of his Kinetic Energy Recovery System – or KERS as it is widely known – was largely responsible for us turning a healthy profit at the last round of the World Championship in Belgium. It looks like the device again has a role to play this weekend, particularly in qualifying. Continue reading…

Podium Punts for Unpredictable Spa

with one comment

An extremely interesting qualifying session has blown the markets wide open for tomorrow’s race. I’m writing this before the fuel weights are out, but I’m already pretty pleased with my Raikkonen bet. If he can gain a couple of places in the opening laps – utilising his KERS – then I think that he is well placed for a podium finish (unexpected Spa Francochamps occurrences withstanding). Continue reading…

Kimi and KERS to Collect at Spa

with 6 comments

Kimi Raikkonen likes it at Spa Francochamps: a proper racetrack for a proper drivers. Last year it looked like he was going to make it four wins on the trot at the Belgian circuit, before crashing out on the penultimate lap as the rain began to fall. Continue reading…

Hungary for Success

with 5 comments

With the likelihood that at least one of the Red Bull cars will be disadvantaged by having to run in dirty air and neither Button nor Barrichello dominating in the way that they did earlier in the season, I wonder whether we might see an unfamilliar face standing on the podium this weekend? Continue reading…

I’ve been doing a bit of analysis on Qualifying runs and declared fuel – using La Canta Magnifico’s Fuel Fing – in an effort to forecast pit-stop schedules. Here’s the output: Continue reading…

Ferrari Fastest Laps

with one comment

Much has been written over the past week about the dominance of the Ferrari drivers at Istanbul since it was added to the Formula 1 race calendar in 2005. It is interesting to look at this success in terms of setting the fastest race laps. Continue reading…

Barcelona Hat Tricks

with 5 comments

No, not Henry or Messi for a change; I’m looking at the Win, Pole and Fastest Lap market. There is definitely something about the Circuit de Catalunya that allows one driver to dominate a weekend. Since 1997, one driver has claimed all three prizes on no less than seven occasions: Continue reading…

2009 Not a Preview

I’ve been trying to resist writing a preview or even looking at the markets for the forthcoming Formula One season for several reasons. Firstly my records would suggest that I am not a particularly good ante post punter. Continue reading…

China: A Red Revolution?

leave a comment »

One week later and we are in the familiar position of having Hamilton and Raikkonen together on the front row, facing a drag down to turn one. Surely Hamilton will favour caution this time around? However with Bet365 having slashed their prices and the track layout not as favourable, betting on Raikkonen to lead after the first lap is not attractive as it was in Japan. Continue reading…
